Having a friend in business has allowed me to see what a mess and unqualified SEO company can create for website. Currently I’m working for a small hotel that had hired a couple of different SEO companies. Always check with a previous company that has used the SEO services of who you are going to hire.

The first company she had hired was recommended to her by the website company she uses. Now her website was not bad, but once this SEO company got a hold of it, it became a mess. First they went into the pages that she had already created and made them into such a mess by moving things around, such as images, that it needed major repair. On top of that they created dozens of pages that became useless because of the garbage that was posted on them. After she fired this particular person, they had to go through the entire website and delete all of the useless pages and then get the website company to come back in and correct all of the image movements they had done. Actually, it was worse than if she had never hired anyone.

The second SEO company was from New York. They were supposed to be well-versed in SEO. Although they were based in the United States all of their workers were obviously from India. Now for technical problems, the Indian people can do a good job. If, however, you want to have content on your website that is written so that it can be read by anyone you do not want people from India writing that content. Again, 10 extra pages were created for back links. The problem was these 10 pages were all centered around keywords that were essentially useless. So again, this second company, although based in New York City, made a major problem for this business. Not only were the keywords useless, but the content was not easy to read and at times made no sense at all.

SEO that makes a difference

The first and most important thing to do when doing any as SEO is to know which keywords to work toward ranking in the search engines. It really doesn’t matter if someone can rank your site for 10 keywords and get you on the first page if those keywords are totally useless and nobody is searching for them. You want keywords that are relevant to your site, relevant to your business and people are ready to use your services or purchase your products when they search for those keywords.
